You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Security Division, Nuclear Security Operations Branch, Code 1121 of PSNS and IMF. SALARY RANGES GS-11: $81,242 - $105,612 GS-12: $97,376 - $126,585

Duties

You will serve as a technical and training advisor on security measures for the development, planning and implementation of the Shipyard Security Program as it pertains to Operations Security. You will provide oversight of the Information Security Program. You will develop and present Anti-Terrorism Training for shipyard employees and ships force personnel. You will provide direction, advice and guidance to on-scene security operations personnel. You will conduct in-depth preliminary inquiries (investigations) into security violations that indicate possible compromise of classified information or unauthorized sensitive information.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • May be required to successfully complete all necessary nuclear and non-nuclear training and pass any physical requirements required in the performance of the position.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to qualify and maintain qualifications for a radiation worker.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing and planning Operations Security Programs by interpreting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with established security regulations and implement security plans and ensure proper conformance involving classified and controlled unclassified information and materials. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning Operations Security Programs by reviewing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with established security regulations to recommend security plans and implement proper conformance involving classified and controlled unclassified information and materials. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Education may substitute for specialized experience as follows:
GS-11:
Successful completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR;
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR;
Successful completion of LL.M., if related OR;
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
