Duties

You will examine, verify, maintain, and reconcile accounts and accounting data, and prepare and analyze reports. You will apply various accounting methods and techniques. You will perform technical work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, and custody of cash items which includes handling cash items or use of cash accountability control methods. You will examine documents for accuracy, adequacy, regulatory compliance for goods and services for or by the Government, satisfaction or default in contracts, reimbursements for medical and domiciliary care, education, and transportation. You will determine pay, perform payroll records maintenance, and complete reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government. You will answer requests and provide advice to employees, supervisors, staff in other financial management series, and personnel specialists on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures. You will perform work to establish, maintain, correct, and close pay accounts for active, reserve, or retired armed forces personnel and their annuitants. You will process in, out, and separate service members, respond to pay inquiries, review pay debts, and process adjustments. You will perform technician work in support of budget analysis and administration such as maintaining ledgers, budget formulation, and compiling. consolidating, checking, and arranging funding data.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This is a Financial Management Level I certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector determining pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to employees; and/or performing work to establish, maintain, correct, and close pay accounts.
