This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Direct Hire Authority - DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position tests, overhauls and repairs a variety of electrically powered materials handling equipment.
This is a Bargaining Unit position AR3135.
Duties
Check and repair electrical circuits on electric operated material handling equipment.
Overhaul and disassemble equipment to repair defective parts and reassembles upon completion.
Reference various maintenance manuals, wiring and specification charts to determine type and extent of repair needed.
Repair and replace various parts such as contacts, bearings and drive pinions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must pass initial and annual physicals.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electromotive Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to do the work of an Electromotive Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to test and repair a variety of electrically powered materials handling equipment; repair electric circuits and wiring; and adjust parts and use testing instruments to locate faulty parts. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Efforts:
Uses hoists, jacks, and other equipment to assist in lifting heavy material; works in various strained or awkward positions and stands for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
Works indoors most of the time, occasionally works out of doors in all types of weather. Hazards of the trade such as battery fumes, moving objects and sharp edges present the possibility of cuts, bruises, burns, skin irritations.
