The primary function of this position is to serves as the Supply Technician for the Environmental Program Section, Facility Management Service (FMS) at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) Medical Center. Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of non-expendable property. This position provide support and assistance to the Hospital Housekeeping Aid Officer with Annual Housecleaning Campaign and EIL Custodial Officer functions.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee stock maintenance
Conduct physical inventories
Receive supplies or materials needed for planned programs or work operations
collate and assemble lists of equipment and parts needed for acquisition plans
Initiate, prepare, edit, and process requisitions to stock, commodity control, or other appropriate supply organizations
Search catalogs, records, or other data sources to obtain or correct stock numbers or to find authorized substitutes for stock items
Contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information
Follow up on urgently required items, and/or expedite delivery of material to work sites
Work Schedule: 6:00AM - 2:30PM

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/07/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Prepares written reports documenting equipment and/or supply
Receives, inspects, stores and issue supplies and equipment
Maintain necessary records and adequate accountability of all equipment and supplies
Schedule necessary equipment maintenance
Operates a variety of office machines and equipment, such as computer keyboard terminal, calculator, and copy machine.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have four (4) years above high school. Physical Requirements: Office work, as well as field work is required. Field inspection requires moderate physical exertion in carrying equipment, as well as extended periods of walking, standing climbing and bending, as well as the use of personal protective equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise levels. Incumbent may be require wearing protective clothing and equipment such as hard hats, safety shoes, rubber gloves, googles, face shields, facemasks, and rubber aprons, etc.
