About the Position: Serves as an Office Automation Assistant with responsibility for providing verbatim transcription typing and related clerical services for an AIT Traininig Brigade S-1 Office. Work requires incumbent to operate sophisticated technologically advanced word processing equipment and/or an electronic system composed of a personal computer, a printer and a modem.

Duties

Provides proofreading and editorial assistance for Brigade Headquarters staff. Transcribes and types letters, reports, tabulated data, memoranda, budget documents, and investigative reports etc. Incumbent required to operate sophisticated technologically advanced word processing equipment and/or an electronic system composed of a personal computer, a printer and a modem. Responsible for providing verbatim transcription typing and related clerical services for an AIT Traininig Brigade S-1 Office.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing general administrative duties; operating word processing and other computer applications to produce reports and correspondence and update or revise a variety of documents; and, reviewing correspondence for accuracy in spelling, grammar and formatting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceInterpersonal SkillsTeamwork Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
