About the Position: This is an Administrative Support Assistant (OA), GS-0303-06 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, Fort Worth District, Programs and Project Management Division and will be located in Fort Worth, TX.

Duties

The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of duties which support the administrative functions of the office. Performs the clerical duties such as receiving visitors and phone calls, maintaining files and office supplies, handling and distributing mail, etc. Types a variety of correspondence, reports etc., using automated equipment and a variety of software programs. Prepares travel orders and vouchers. Makes travel arrangements for office staff. Performs timekeeping and related duties. Assists with office budgets and flow of funds.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a qualified typist with a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM)

To Qualify for the GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing at least two of the following duties: 1) assisting with an office budget; OR 2) utilizing automated office software to prepare documents, correspondence and spreadsheets; OR 3) performing administrative support duties for an office such as timekeeping and coordinating travel arrangements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
