About the Position: The Directorate of Operations (DOO) provides law and order, fire and emergency services and protection operations. Its main mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for the Service Members, civilians and families that work, live or visit our installation.
Duties
Serve as a Supervisory Security Guard for Supervisory Security Guards (Shift Supervisors), Lead Security Guards, Security Guards and Security Assistants performing Access/Entry Control, Visitor Control Center, and Control Room Operations.
Maintain full responsibility of duties to include assigning Shift Supervisors to shifts, duty posts, and patrols based on work assignment.
Develop Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), Letter of Instructions (LOIs), and procedural guidance.
Inform supervisors of unusual and controversial issues affecting on-base operations.
Ensure that the performance of all missions and assignments are consistent with the Provost Marshal's law enforcement philosophy.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
- Selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
- You may be required to sign a Statement of Understanding if you are selected for this position.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- This position will require the incumbent to pass a physical fitness/agility test within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and /or protective clothing and equipment
- This position requires the incumbent must obtain and maintain applicable certification in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) managing a security guard force through subordinate supervisors and (2) experience conducting access controls. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
