You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST assigned to the Director, Naval Foundry & Propeller Center Detachment (Code 1400) at Philadelphia, PA, of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will design, plan, and implement The Naval Foundry and Propeller Center's (NFPC) Public Affairs Program. You will provide and coordinate the dissemination of general information to employees of NFPC. You ill establish and maintain effective working relationships with local community entities, members of the media, and the NNSY PAO Department in order to disseminate information and answer inquiries. You will advise NFPC's Director, Department and Office Heads, and others directly involved with operations on handling problems and incidents. You will research information in order to write articles and speeches for the NFPC Director and Shipyard Commander dealing with NFPC operations, programs, and activities for publication in local and national media. You will prepare and publish information designed to keep all NFPC personnel informed or programs, activities, and related issues. You will arrange for NFPC representatives to speak to local civic or service groups. You will manage all information released on the commands internet page, social media, and appropriate intranet sites.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with national media and community groups. Experience making oral presentations to various internal and external groups. Experience writing articles, news releases, and speeches on a variety of topics and complexity levels with minimal oversight. Experience managing social media for an organization on multiple platforms. Experience coordinating VIP visits from multiple organizations. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience writing articles or news releases. Experience making oral presentations to various internal and external groups. Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with local and national media and community groups. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
