About the Position: This position plans, coordinates and administers the battalion's family programs to include Army Family Team Building (AFTB), Army Family Action Plan, Family Advocacy, Employment Readiness, Financial Readiness, Army Volunteer Corps, and Relocation Readiness.

Duties

Establish and maintain an Army Community Service (ACS) Center where manages all ACS program at the battalion. As primary Beneficiary Counseling and Assistance Coordinator for military personnel and their families, obtain medical care information needed for treatment through the direct care medical program, the family member dental plan, and other programs. Conduct community needs assessment to identify support program requirements and develop an outreach plan. Assist incoming/outgoing soldiers and their families with housing information, relocation packets, available health care program, medical facilities local laws, taxes and spouse employment opportunities. Establish a referral system; provide training, information and assistance on the Command Family Advocacy program. Develop, coordinate, and provide comprehensive technical briefings, orientations and workshops for quality of life programs. Recruit, train and maintain an active volunteer force to assist in family education on Army readiness.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Soldier and Family Assistant Program Manager A. Possess a degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral or social sciences, or a related discipline appropriate to the position. OR B. Possess a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of a behavioral or social sciences curriculum as described in A above. OR C. Possess four years of appropriate experience in one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. This experience includes using research techniques to evaluate and review procedures to advise soldiers and family members regarding military community programs In addition to meeting the basic requirements identified above, you must meet minimum qualifications requirements for this position. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience, which includes advising military and their family members on military community service programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: behavioral or social science; or related discipline appropriate to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Interpersonal SkillsPlanning and EvaluatingProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
