About the Position: This position is located at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY and is in the Referral Management Office. The incumbent will verify military eligibility (including Reservists, LOD, Chaptered Out, Requesting care/treatment in another location), Prime enrollment status, completeness and appropriateness of the referral enrollment status, completeness and appropriateness of the referral.
Duties
Ensure optimization of healthcare at the Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs).
Determine appropriateness of referrals, to include ensuring the requested service is a TRICARE covered benefit.
Assist in improving Referral Management Center (RMC) processes, as appropriate.
Assist in the improvement of the referral reconciliation efforts (i.e., MTF/Network referral utilization and return of MTF/Network referral results).
Verify military eligibility (including Reservists, LOD, Chaptered Out, requesting care/treatment in another location); Prime enrollment status, completeness and appropriateness of the referral.
Manage multiple databases unique to TRICARE and the referral program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
- The work may require the incumbent to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
- This position is designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education AND/OR experience described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing and implementing policies and procedures on the referral management process; reviewing health care referrals for completeness, appropriateness, and TRICARE covered benefits; assisting staff in the coordination of process improvements; entering and validating information in a variety of health care system data bases; and/or reviewing health care data to enhance quality of patient care. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: One and a half years (i.e., 27 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Management, or HealthCare Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.}
