You will serve as a PAINTER LEADER in the Paint Shop (71A), Waterfront Services Division (TRF-300), Repair Department (TRF-340) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will instruct the preparation of interior and exterior wood, metal and plastic surfaces of equipment, buildings, ships, submarines, and small craft. You will assign daily work assignments, establishing priorities on the basis of general work schedules, methods and instructions from a Painter Foreman. You will keep supervisor informed concerning work progress, technical and personnel problems, materials and manpower requirements. You will reference instruction to determine proper specification of surface standard, environmental condition, mix ratio, cure time, coating surface, wet film, and dry film thickness.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current IT-II level designation certification.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise such as: 1) Serves as a Painter Leader responsible for personally performing, directing, and leading the efforts of other Paint Shop employees. 2) Obtains needed information or decisions from shop supervisor on work problems. 3) Inspects surfaces prior to and during the coating sequences. 4) Assures that tools and equipment are operating properly. 5) Ensures accurate completion of all documentation associated with work operations. 6) Possess the skills, knowledge and ability necessary for providing effective leadership to members of the group, thereby assuring the timely and efficient completion of all work assignments.
