You will serve as an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist in the Training Systems RDT&E Department of NAWCTSD ORLANDO.

Duties

You will provide advice, consultation and technical documentation to engineers, project directors and management on designated specialty areas, as required. You will integrate systems engineering and subject-matter-expertise requirements, approaches, trade-offs, costs, schedule and risks as the consolidated technical input to the IPT. You will finalize the performance requirements as baselined in the configuration, design and performance characteristics of the conceptually defined training system.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist. Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: (1) Analyzing customer requirements, developing conceptual design approaches, along with cost and lead time estimates and market research; (2) Preparing Statements of Work (SOW), specifications, technical proposal requirements, source selection plan, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRL) and other acquisition package documents; (3) Reviewing design approach, participating in design reviews, being a member of Integrated Product Team(s), and monitoring contract progress; (4) Reviewing and developing test procedures, inspection and testing of training system, and reviewing and acceptance of contract deliverable items. Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

08XX Series:
Successful completion of a degree in Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
A combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

1550 Series:
Successful completiob of a bachelor's degree in computer science
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
