You will serve as a Student Trainee (Human Resources) in the Corporate Operations Directorate (COD) of NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will interpret and analyze data extracts and reports from automated HR and related databases. You will develop effective automated systems approaches for presenting HR reports, graphics, and website information for use by HR staff and activity managers, and for workforce dissemination. You will work on special studies or problem areas, projected reorganizations, military-civilian and contractor workforce relationships, and bases for position grade levels. You will advise management on the use of compensation flexibilities to help recruit, manage, and retain an efficient and effective civilian workforce. You will assist with addressing complex circumstances and ensures accuracy and timely response to request from employees. You will process honorary awards, which require a formal write-up and/or citation, ensure that the documentation is in accordance with the Navy Correspondence Manual, and route all award nominations for concurrence and/or approval.

Qualifications

For the GS-04 Grade Level: To be eligible for the GS-0299-04, you must meet the following level of education requirement: You must have successfully completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. For the GS-05 Grade Level: To be eligible for the GS-0299-05, you must meet the following level of education requirement: You must have successfully completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
