This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (F-22), Position Description Number D1444000 and is part of the HI 154 AMXS, National Guard.
LOCATION: 154th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii
Duties
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities within one of three major work functions (Aircraft Generation Division, and the Equipment Maintenance and the Component Repair Branches of the Aircraft Maintenance Division. All three work functions are organized with a number of subordinate supervisors due to the scope, volume, and complexity of operations. The work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi engine transports to the most modern sophisticated fighters and bombers. All aircraft are fully integrated in and are part of the Total Force Mission of the United States Air Force. Occupations supervised are somewhat similar, in that they all involve maintenance of assigned aircraft to ensure combat readiness; they are dissimilar in their organizational location, as well as the functional areas, occupational series, and the diversity and complexity of systems for which each function is responsible. The occupation and nonsupervisory grade which best reflects the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10.
Plans the overall allocation of personnel, funding and equipment resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which, because of their scope, volume, complexity, operational tempo, and total force integration must be planned on a annual or longer basis.
Coordinates and directs the work of units supervised.
Recommends promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors and
reviews personnel actions prepared by them.
Implements safety regulatory requirements.
Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections,
mobilization and command support exercises, and Operations Other Than War (OOTW).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: If your resume does not include a narrative description of how you meet the GENERAL, SPECIALIZED experiences, and OTHER requirements, you may lose consideration for this position. Ensure that the Questionnaire is completed on Application Manager.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform the various aspects of disassembly, cleaning, lubricating, or assembling of aircraft parts, components, or subassemblies. Experience in the use of various production shop equipment, hand tools, measuring devices, power tools, and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have at least 36 months of experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching and working in tiring and
uncomfortable positions. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and
components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and may be required to lift items weighing up to 100
pounds with assistance from other workers or materials handling equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces
and work stands and in temperature extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic
fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces (landing gears, speed
brakes, missile doors and flaps), engine noise, heat blast, intake suction, rotating propellers,
explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices, liquid oxygen/nitrogen, fire
or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret), the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709.
NOTES TO CANDIDATES:
a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.
