Duties

As a IT Specialist (Data Management / Applications Software) you will: Ensure the quality of data applications Monitor the integrity and accuracy of information and data in application Develop, select, and/or maintain databases to obtain greater efficiency in computer memory and processes Provide data management policy guidance and technical support Develop applications programs for a variety of software applications in support of the work of the organization

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: For GS-12: To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: utilizing scientific, mathematical, and statistical principles and theories to integrate, transform, and analyze data from a myriad of disparate systems. For GS-13: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: managing, administering, and ensuring security, maintenance, and operations of database systems. Applicants must also have IT-related experience demonstrating the required technical skills, knowledge, and abilities and possess the following competencies: ATTENTION TO DETAIL, CUSTOMER SERVICE, ORAL COMMUNICATION AND PROBLEM SOLVING. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Promotion potential: Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your meeting qualifications and time-in-grade requirements, demonstrated ability to perform the higher-level duties, the continuing need for the higher-level duties, and administrative approval. Promotion to the next grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.

Education
