About the Position: Serves as Medical Support Assistant (MSA) for the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) at a medical treatment facility (MTF) and provides direct assistance to the FAP staff in providing services to families and coordinating activities with a variety of medical, social service, and legal staff. Performs a variety of administrative, medical support, and clerical tasks related to sensitive and high-risk issues with patient care and treatment within the (FAP).

Duties

Provide clerical/administrative support to Family Advocacy Programs and/or Social Work Services. Control the filing system for open or closed Family Advocacy records. Create a variety of reports pertaining to Family Advocacy Programs (FAP) for the installation. Schedule meetings for Case Review Committee (CRC). Coordinate activities with a variety of medical, social services, or legal staff for families. Schedule appointments or follow ups for the clinic. Operate office automation systems such as Composite Health Care System (CHCS). Utilize software programs to produce documents or reports.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. (Note: Those subject to religious exemption or medical contradictions are exempt from this requirement.)
  • All employees assigned to a Medical Treatment Facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on Occupational Risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations IAW AR 40-562, Chapter 3 and 4.
  • The incumbent of this position must be a qualified typist.
  • Incumbent may be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as [insert applicable field(s) of study]. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Additional Minimum Qualification: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
