About the Position: This Construction Control Representative, GS-0809-12 is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, Fort Worth District, Engineering and Construction Division, is located in Fort Cavazos, Texas.
Duties
Work with engineers, inspectors, technicians, and aids performing engineering and inspection necessary to ensure that construction by contract is performed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
Maintain liaison with contractors' representatives to keep familiar with contractor's operations arid construction schedules, to ensure adequacy of such schedules, and to plan inspection services to meet contract requirements.
Reads and makes interpretations of the plans and specifications to contractor representatives and subordinate field force.
Tour construction sites and observes construction methods and progress as to their conformance to plans and specifications of various features of construction.
Perform as a quality insurance representative on Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste (HTR ) remediation contracts.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel is required up to 10% of the time.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid current vehicle operator’s license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. One year of specialized experience which includes 2 out of the 3 following duties: 1) Monitor major civil/military projects to include conventional buildings of all types dormitories, mess halls, buildings etc.; AND/OR 2) Ensure construction projects are performed in accordance with contract plans and specifications; AND/OR 3) Resolve contracting issues with contractors/engineers/staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
