Provides comprehensive, culturally appropriate social work services for the patient population at the IHS Cass Lake Hospital. Helps patients maintain, regain or enhance their level of functioning when their ability to function is affected by actual or potential illness, disability or injury. The content of these services range from prevention and education, to helping patients deal with major changes in social roles, future expectations and life goals precipitated by changes in health status.
Duties
Promote, by action and example, mutual respect and common courtesy for workplace environment.
Perform short term counseling and crisis intervention.
Coordinate with clinical, health education, community health and other staff members in the provision of services to patients.
Determine disposition triaged according to level of clinical acuity, medical and psychosocial complexity.
Adhere to personal and professional standards and ethics.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Individual Occupational Requirements
Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications for GS-11: 3 3 years of progressively higher level graduate Education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 1 Year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 Grade Level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples include: Collaborating with other health professionals to assess client needs; referring patients to community resources; providing individual or group counseling; coordinating care with expert diagnostic and treatment consultation to medical providers; assessing in-patient needs and patient discharge planning; providing therapy to all age groups utilizing a variety of accepted treatment techniques; developing treatment plans; providing interventions surrounding drug, alcohol, co-occurring disorders, and crisis intervention to potentially life-threatening emergencies.
Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current, unrestricted U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW). Please provide a copy of your license with your application.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
