There are two positions located in the Fiscal Service at VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System - Nashville VA Medical Center, Nashville, TN. The Teller is responsible for establishing and maintaining a complex Agent Cashier Unit assigned to Fiscal Service.
Duties

The primary duties of Teller involve cashier activities composed of the broad areas of collection and disbursement of funds, and proper distribution of salary checks' and earnings and leave statements. Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Responsible for all Agent Cashier input to the Austin Finance Center and Treasury reports, reconciliations and all disbursements and receipts of cash instruments
Directing the work of a full-time Teller and numerous Fiscal alternate cashiers
Determining the acceptability of payment documents and cash items, aided by knowledge of Treasury Department and Department of Veterans Affairs regulations
Determining type of payment; i.e., Third Party, Means Test, Co-Payment, or a combination of several types and preparing Field Station Receipts for collections
Analyzing work requirements and determine resources, equipment and other needs to efficiently and safely accomplish customer service assignments
Paying in cash certain designed classes of Fiscal vouchers, performing this disbursing function in accordance with authority delegated by the Treasury Department
Making cash payments to patients, employees and cash replenishments to Teller
Receiving receipts, deposits and accounts for collections received
Issuing pre-numbered accountable receipts for each remittance received, determining the correct appropriation and account symbol
Balancing accounts daily to assure that the disbursing fund and collections are properly accounted for
Preventing access of unauthorized individuals to the Agent Cashier Office, and maintaining and practicing appropriate security measures
Assuming personal financial accountability for any monetary loss which results from the performance of duties and competency shortages
Resolving technical problems not covered by precedents or established policies
Maintaining arid withdrawals from a depository checking account; Citicorp Convenience Checks; Third Party-Insurance Company Collections for the MCCR Program; Pharmacy, Means Test, Inpatient and Outpatient Co-Payments; and VISA/Master Card Credit payment systems
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 08:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirement: The following are minimum requirements for appointment as a Teller in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must met.
Specialized Experience (GS-06): You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (i.e., GS-05). Qualifying examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: experience as a Teller or similar position completing cash disbursements and deposits; understanding regulations/guidelines related to the Agent Cashier Operations; providing customer service in a positive, friendly, courteous and timely manner; and communicating with internal and external customers to satisfy their expectations. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
