About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest.

Duties

Serves as a Compliance Program Manager and assists the Environmental Compliance Program Manager. Designated Dive Coordinator for District’s Diving Program responsible for management, control, inspection, and administration of the diving safety program activities for the Walla Walla District. Prepares bid specifications for specific diving jobs, and reviews and approves the bid specifications prepared by others pertaining to diving and other underwater work. Serves as the District Operations primary safety technical point of contact for the Operating Projects and the District Safety Office. Assists the District environmental compliance program manager with reviews of internal assessments and external assessments (Environmental Regulations Governing Operations (ERGO)). Aircrew Training Program Manager (ATPM) for the District Small Unmanned Aviation Systems (SUAS) Program. Participates in PDTs and supports the Environmental Compliance Program Manager in ensuring that current environmental protection laws, regulations, and policies are followed when applicable. Supports the District’s sustainability coordinator in efforts to meet Energy, Water, Petroleum Conservation, Solid Waste reduction goals and reporting requirements in the CRAFT data base. May be necessary from time to time to fill in for project environmental compliance coordinators in their absence or additional duties require extra help from the district position.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Incumbent must take USACE Prospect Dive Safety Administration Course within one year of hire per ER 385-1-86.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting inspections of industrial facilities and operations to ensure program compliance in one or more of the following areas: Safety and occupational health laws; diving technologies and practices including underwater inspection, maintenance, and construction; environmental programs such as ERGO or NEPA. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ComplianceCompliance Inspection and Program ManagementEnvironmental Safety and Occupational Health Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
