The Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) is committed to educating and assisting the millions of workers, retirees, and their families covered by private retirement plans, health plans, and other welfare benefit plans as well as plan sponsors and members of the employee benefits community. This job is not 100% telework; it requires employees to report on a regular basis to their assigned office location.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
  • Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Subject to financial disclosure requirements.
  • Requires a supervisory probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Valid driver’s license desirable.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-14, in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that is generally in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as analyzing legal issues involving laws such as Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA), Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA) and other similar health laws, polices and regulations; applying civil and criminal investigative techniques; and providing technical guidance, reviewing and evaluating ERISA covered retirement and health plans and a variety of other service provider products and vehicles.

Education

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-15 level for this position.
