About the Position: Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 2 years and cannot be made permanent. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years.
Duties
Serve as confidential assistant and primary Secretary to the Commander, Deputy Commander, and Chief of Staff at the Blue Grass Chemical Activity (BGCA).
Support the Command and Staff with a wide variety of administrative services.
Screen calls and visitors for the Commander, Deputy Commander, and Chief of Staff.
Prepare a variety of routine correspondence in accordance with Army Regulation 25-50, or other designated guidance.
Serve as liaison between the Commander and other offices.
Prepare and consolidate information for special events, ceremonies, and Town Halls.
Inputs time and Attendance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 2 years.
- Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- May be required to participate in Chemical Incident or Mishap Response and Assistance (CIMRA) situations and serve on teams dedicated to controlling CIMRA situations after being trained for the particular duty involved.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

Specialized Experience (GS-07): One year of specialized which includes: Performing administrative and clerical duties such as office automation software; Managing Supervisor's calendar; Coordinating travel arrangements to include preparing travel orders/vouchers utilizing an automated system, such as Defense Travel System (DTS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-06.
Specialized Experience (GS-08): One year of specialized experience which includes: Screening calls and visitors; Reviewing requests for information; Organizing material for meetings or conferences; Reviewing correspondence in accordance with established directives or guidelines; Maintaining various types of official records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07.
Specialized Experience (GS-09): One year of specialized experience which includes: Directing calls and visitors; Responding to requests for information; Preparing material for meetings or conferences; Preparing correspondence in accordance with established directives or guidelines; Establishing various types of official records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08.
