About the Position: Serve as the Freedom of Information (FOIA)/Privacy Act (PA) for the installation. To implement the FOIA and PA include policy development, administration and conduct of the Installation-wide FOIA and PA programs, which are accomplished in concert with Department of Army and Department of Defense policy.
Duties
Researches and prepares responses to all requests for release of information for personnel documents and official records of Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, separated, retired and/or discharged and deceased military personnel.
Apply knowledge of applicable legislation, DoD regulations, and Army policy as it relates to releasing information/documentation under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA)
Receive, review, analyze, and process complex and sensitive Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) requests to determine what information is being sought.
Use automated processing systems to redact records and prepare all necessary correspondence, notices, and other documentation required under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA).
Provide technical advice, oral briefings, and training to newly assigned personnel, directorates, and senior leadership.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting with researching, analyzing, evaluating data, and responding to a variety of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act request; 2) Assisting in the development of privacy-related policies and procedures based on existing laws/regulations; receiving, investigating and tracking complaints related to compliance; 3) Receiving and responding requests for information in accordance with established laws/regulations/procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
