This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Support Services Manager (VP of University Operations) you will be responsible for participating in university management discussions, decisions and policy making and sharing in management actions.
Duties
As a Support Services Manager (VP of University Operations) GS-0301-14, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Serves as the immediate supervisor for five first-level supervisors, which in turn supervise a base of up to 45 employees across 7 offices. Offices under the Vice President of University Operations include the Haskell Cultural Center, Little Nations Day Care, Curtis Dining Facility, Facilities Management, Maintenance, and Custodial Services.
Serves as the in-house administrative advisor to the President, Haskell, and as such liaise and coordinates human resources (HR) management actions, budget and finance, acquisition, property management, and other administrative support to Haskell.
Establishes policy and provides direction, guidance, and managerial supervision for all the University's support operations, including general administrative operations, acquisition, food services, grounds maintenance, and facilities operations and maintenance.
Accountable to the President on effective and efficient management and operations of Facilities Management. This Unit is responsible for the operations and maintenance of a college campus that includes 43 buildings, 810,000 square feet, and 320 acres.
Administers general support/operations programs for Haskell and coordinates all property management and procurement activities.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-14: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position, equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal services and involves university/college facilities management, operations, and maintenance. Examples of specialized experience should include: direct oversight of university/college facilities management and university operations, implementation of university/college safety and security protocols, development and facilitation of project management and quality statements of work (SOWs), budget and finance of facilities and operation, utilization of communication skills in formal and informal settings, and having oversight of multiple departments and environments in-person and virtually.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT and Other significant information:
The position may be required to work other than normal hours as necessary to handle emergency
situations or peak workloads.
Appropriately handles and safeguards sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with
regulations to reduce potential compromise.
Work requires travel away from the duty station on field assignments.
Travel involves transit via airplane and motor vehicle.
The position is required to drive a motor vehicle to carry out assignments.
A valid State driver's license is required.
Regularly operate government vehicles or equipment to perform the duties of the position.
Employees occupying positions with the requirement to regularly operate a vehicle must
successfully complete the web-based National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course every 3
years.
All positions are subject to the Indian Affairs Motor Vehicle Operation Policy. The position must
be in compliance with all policy requirements depending upon position motor vehicle operation
status.
