About the Position: Serves as Operations Manager for the Locks and Dams Projects responsible for the efficient and economical accomplishment of Project Office mission through the management of activities involving personal work efforts and the direction of subordinate supervisors and a total of approximately 70-75 full-time and part-time employees involved in professional, technical, trades/labor, administrative and clerical work.

Duties

Supervises, plans, directs, monitors, and executes the Locks and Dams Project Office assigned portion of the Operations Division operations and maintenance program involving navigation, environmental and natural resource management. Represents the District in all matters relative to the Locks and Dams Project Office, coordinating issues with representatives from the various Federal, State, and local organizations or governmental entities. Provides input to construction and maintenance project planning and execution in areas under Project Office jurisdiction and jointly coordinates project planning and construction with Construction Division, and other District and Division entities. Makes periodic field visits, examines construction and maintenance projects upon completion to ensure adherence to requirements and provides information to construction project management bodies regarding suggested modifications. Has responsibility for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the all navigation facilities of the Louisville District. Responsible for insuring the needs of internal and external customers are met. Maintains a constant awareness of projects/activities having wide public interest, military importance, or those affecting shipping interests, environmental or recreational interests, etc. Participates extensively in the on-going, long-term navigation, recreation, and environmental planning studies through work groups such as innovative lock design, lock site selection, small scale improvements, etc. Exercises supervisory and administrative duties such as ,initiates personnel actions, interviews and selects candidates for appointments, promotions, or reassignment to key positions. Prepares appraisals for positions directly supervised.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license to perform duties of this position.
