About the Position: This is a Temporary Promotion Not to Exceed (NTE) 13 Months position as a Materials Handler (MVO/FLO) Leader with the Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Jackson, SC.
This position is obligated.
Duties
Serve as Work Leader for employees accomplishing trades and labor work.
Check work in progress and, when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines.
Plan and accept warehousing methods, procedures and techniques to receive, locate, store and stock items.
Pass on to the other workers instructions received from the supervisor and starts work by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
Ensure that needed clothing, equipment and supplies are available to accomplish the assigned daily tasks.
Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must have and maintain a valid state drivers license.
- Forklift operator's certificate is required to be obtained and maintained within three months of employment.
- May be required to use safety equipment such as: safety shoes, gloves, aprons, safety glasses, goggles, hearing protectors, or any other safety equipment that will preclude personal injury.
- Inclement Weather Essential Position: Incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- A pre-appointment and annual physical is required.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 70 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 (NACI) security investigation.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (MVO/FLO) Leader without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler (MVO/FLO) Leader duties. I can receive and unload incoming shipments; and perform warehouse duties. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Incumbent performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas requiring standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently required to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds. Assistance is available in lifting heavier items.
Working Conditions: Primarily works inside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas. Subject to injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting and overturning loads.
