These positions are located in Montezuma Castle National Monument, in the Fee Branch of the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. Open to the first 75 applicants or until 02/12/2024 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.

Duties

Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. Selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 consecutive weeks based upon project requirements or weather conditions. You will be placed in a pay status and can expect to work a maximum of 25 out of 26 pay periods per year. This can be variable due to project requirements or weather conditions. Recreational Fee Technicians connect people to parks. They play a key role in ensuring that visitors have a meaningful experience by serving in a frontline customer service position. The monuments are in the Verde Valley region of central Arizona, approximately 90 miles north of Phoenix and 50 miles south of Flagstaff. Tuzigoot is situated along the northern reaches of the Verde River, near the towns of Clarkdale and Cottonwood. Montezuma Castle and Montezuma Well are near the towns of Camp Verde and Rimrock. Employees are required to report for duty at any of these sites. The primary responsibilities include: Staffing the information desk, providing quality customer service, greeting visitors, providing answers to recurring visitor questions concerning the specific park area and other surrounding areas of interest, explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, and area hiking trails; distributing maps, brochures, and other printed material; and informing visitors of potential safety hazards. Collecting appropriate fees at a visitor center following established accountability guidelines for handling government funds. Incumbent operates an electronic cash register, computer, or Point of Sale system. Under guidance of a higher graded team member, or the supervisor, performs opening and closing shift functions. Issuing entrance receipt, park passes, and federal recreation passes in accordance with established guidelines and verifies entrance receipts and various passes for validity dates. May process refunds or upgrades as needed according to established guidelines. Under the guidance of a higher-graded team member, or supervisor, the incumbent will complete shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold and all machine transactions from the shift using journal and receipt tapes and a register of voided transactions. Safeguards funds collected and personal accountable stock.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-02/12/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at lease one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: handling, tracking, or depositing monies; using software programs to maintain financial/accounting data (such as fee and stock data); performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties; and using tools or equipment (e.g., cash registers, calculators, etc.) to make sales transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial records. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above that, together, equal 100% of the qualification standards listed above when combined. You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies. Federal employees seeking CTAP/ICTAP eligibility must submit proof that they meet the requirements of 5 CFR 330.605(2) for CTAP and 5 CFR 330.704 for ICTAP.
