Duties
You will serve as a Production Controller (Ships) in the Project Office of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair (SUPSHIP) Gulf Coast.
You will provide general oversight of craft construction on the waterfront, from the start of fabrication through delivery and sail-away.
You will monitor all aspects of construction and stage 2-7 testing.
You will monitor construction progress, negotiate changes on the waterfront, and act as liaison with the Program Office Production Manager.
You will provide waterfront production and quality oversight of the craft and modules assigned.
You will conduct periodic review of the shipbuilder’s progressing system for accuracy.
You will monitor the contractor’s production progress against an approved progressing system to ensure events occur as planned, that progress payments are justified and to identify any problem areas that may cause schedule delays or cost overruns.
You will help coordinate all assets of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding to ensure quality and that craft are constructed on time and within budget.
You will be required to be warranted by the Contracting Officer up to the $25,000 level and will procure material and services for the accomplishment of waterfront changes up to $25,000 in total contract value.
You will inspect and evaluate the contractor's production facilities as they relate to craft contract work, including the allocation of facilities, craft manning, maintenance actions, plant equipment procurement and total yard productivity.
You will monitor major impacts to contract from other Navy or commercial contracts in areas related to facilities, manning or schedules.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a wide range of production methods and procedures to plan for the construction, overhaul, or repair of ships.
