This position provides data management and analysis for on-going studies and maintains assigned projects associated with the Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems (TBIMS) project and data management within the Polytrauma System of Care (PSC), Post 911 M2VA program.

Duties

Functions as Researcher and Analyst independently compiling data including abstraction of complex medical information from diverse sources. Conducts on-going studies and maintaining assigned projects which include completing data entry into data bases and creating appropriate reports based on the data. Performs statistical analyses and prepares data for presentations, reports, and publications. Defines goals, recommends courses of action, and implements chosen alternative. Develops, evaluates, and modifies organizational structure and systems to achieve program goals. Performs data validation and quality control/quality assurance checks and procedures and ensures adherence to study protocols in preparation for analyses. Utilizes complex computer software and other programs. Completes writing assignments for research reports, abstracts, and articles. Researches and writes reports/correspondence in response to inquiries at own initiative as well as at the request of managers. Communicates progress to project and management staff and all levels of Leadership. Ensures that identified quality and/or productivity issues pertaining to the project are documented and communicated to the Primary Investigator/Research staff and that appropriate follow-up action occurs regarding any recommendation made as a result of the team's evaluation activities. Provides training to staff or coordinators on correct and accurate completion of study specific patient records of collection forms and is responsible for data accuracy, integrity, and completeness. Provides project specific guidance and assists in overseeing the personnel assigned to TBIMS project. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines, and corporate policies for all clinical data management activities on assigned studies and archives research materials at the completion of the study. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/02/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Serves as a researcher and analyst for the Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems (TBIMS) project, Polytrauma System of Care (PSC), Post 911 M2VA programs. Performs data validation and quality control/quality assurance checks and procedures and ensures adherence to study protocols. Assumes primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines, and corporate policies for all clinical data management activities on assigned studies. Ensures that identified quality and/or productivity issues pertaining to the TBIMS project are documented and communicated to the Pis/Research staff, and that appropriate follow-up action occurs regarding any recommendation made as a result of the team's evaluation activities. Develops, evaluates, and modifies organizational structure and systems to achieve program goals. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Duties may require lifting and carrying computer equipment such as monitors and printers.
