This position is located in the New York Asylum Office.
As a Supervisory Mission Support Specialist, you will provide guidance and direction in support of a variety of management services essential to the direction and operation of USCIS, assist management in administering policies and procedures, provide advice, guidance, and instruction to managers, supervisors, and employees concerning all administrative areas in Mission Support.
Duties
Supervise administrative employees responsible for assessing productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations or who analyze and resolve problems in the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative support and staff activities.
Support human resources management by writing position analysis, recruiting, interviewing and/or recommending applicants for selections, coordinating interviews and pre-employee communication with candidates and tracking staffing actions.
Develop and maintain systems for gathering, analyzing, and storing data and statistics and perform statistical analysis and make recommendations based on such analyses.
Ensure compliance in various program management areas, including procurement, property, time and attendance, facilities management, human resources, performance management, travel management, financial management, health and safety.
Provide complex administrative services including, but not limited to, budget, procurement, travel, property, logistics, management and information systems, records and files, mail and office equipment.
Identify ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency of administrative services at the local level, provide representation for office in dealings with vendors and organizations within the agency that have primary responsibilities for these services.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/07/2024.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/07/2024.
GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Performing or supervising functional specialties such as budget, human resources management, travel, training, and logistics/procurement;
Leading a group of administrative employees, planning the work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting priorities, and evaluating performance;
Conducting independent evaluations of administrative functions, preparing study findings, recommendations, and reports.
