Duties

Serve as consultant, coach and supporter to facilitate problem solving and accomplishment of Field Office goals and priorities including in partnership settings. Responsible for developing a program of conservation, stewardship and management of public land resources while maintaining the multiple use concept to sustain yield of products and services. Perform personnel management functions such as hire employees; establish performance standards and evaluate performance; identify and provide developmental and training needs of employees; assign work to subordinate staff and ensure its completion. Manage budget and work accomplishments for land and resource programs including recreation management, recreation facilities maintenance, and lands and realty administration. Promote internal and external communication and coordination, including local interest groups, individuals, users, the general public, State and local government, and other Federal personnel.

  • May require a one year probationary period.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: experience with land and/or resource management programs requiring multiple-use management and protection of a variety of resources (land, water, fisheries, wildlife, oil and gas, recreation, etc.) and interacting with all levels of the agency; accomplishing work through others, e.g., project manager, team or project lead, etc.; experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships to achieve goals and objectives; in conducting oral briefings and presentations; in preparing reports which identify, analyze and integrate diverse data, present findings and conclusions, and provide alternatives and/or recommendations (reports often weigh and balance diverse opinions with agency requirements and resource needs; in making clear, well-reasoned decisions balancing diverse opinions.). Note: Resume must show experience with land and/or resource management programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
