This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, Fifth District (D5), Preparedness Division, Prevention Branch, Ports and Facilities Section in Portsmouth, VA.
Duties
The incumbent will serve as a Security Specialist(Port), responsible for developing, implementing, executing, and managing the maritime transportation system (MTS) security program for the USCG; provides oversight of Ports and Waterways Safety Act (PWSA), International Code for the Security of Ships and Port Facilities (ISPS), Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA).

- This position may require a one year probationary period.
Qualifications
GS-13: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, or abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience includes: updating security directives, regulations, manuals, guidelines or procedures; establishing security measures; measuring effectiveness of existing security practices; coordinating, planning, and developing assessment of maritime security exercises.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
