This National Guard position is for an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT), Position Description Number NGD2726000 and is part of the JFHQ - G4. Work location is CSMS 1 in Mitchell, SD. Duties

As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT), GS-2210-9, you will: This position is located at the JFHQ-State, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (DCSLOG) (G4/J4), Sustainment Automation Support Management Office (SASMO). The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to Automated Logistics Information Systems and Programs to all state/territory activities/organizations and perform a wide range of specialized methods/techniques for planning; analyzing and identifying problems in order to develop and implement resolutions to administrative and systemic programs throughout the organization.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: Enlisted up to MSG. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. Knowledge of DOD, DA, and NGB IT regulations, policy, and guidance to include IT security. Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of a variety of hardware and operating systems. Knowledge of standard computer systems sufficient to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and skill to isolate causes. Knowledge of a wide range of computer techniques, requirements and procedures and skill to provide user assistance as other systems are introduced.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience -

• At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted.

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Major study-computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.
