This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. The purpose of this position is two-fold: (1) to serve as the Clinical Director and Chief of Staff of the Clinical Services Branch for the Lower Brule Health Center, and (2) to provide the diagnosis, care and treatment of general medicine cases in the capacity of a staff physician utilizing Western Practices of Medicine as prescribed by the Great Plains Area Medical By-Laws.

Duties

Plans and assigns work to be accomplished, either directly or in general terms of supervision. The Clinical Director functions as the supervisor of all the Clinical Programs and Services. The CD creates daily and monthly work schedules based on patient needs and volume. The Clinical Director will supervise Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy and Medical Support Personnel. Participates in strategic planning on an annual basis for the hospital and ensures strategic plan is implemented following the national Indian Health Service priorities utilizing all available resources. The CD works with her program supervisors to ensure the facility is compliant with all aspects of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), CMS, and IHS accreditation, regulations and directives to ensure no lapse in accreditation or certification status by these organizations/agencies. Work is accomplished through Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance, LEAN Management, Improving Patient Care, and Medical Home studies, data tracking, tests of change, and performance studies. These projects are initiated, and performed and evaluated by the program managers who are supervised by the CD, and also by the CD and the medical staff members. Develops and coordinates the internal review of the Service Unit departments to assure that all financial and administrative activities are in compliance with requirements of appropriate accrediting organizations. Monitors activity in the areas of personnel, financial, medical/legal and communications systems. Establishes priorities for supervised departments in recruiting for vacancies, services, supplies and equipment, using sound budget analysis of current and projected fiscal situations.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): OPM Link: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0600/medical-officer-series-0602/ In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-14: 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training. Examples Include: Direct involvement in managing, developing and coordinating a comprehensive clinical, preventive, and public health approach to health programs; assist in developing and implementing guidelines, standards, policies and procedures to ensure staff adhere to accreditation standards; recruit and manage a diverse staff; provide expert medical care; serve as a consultant to other healthcare professionals. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
