The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of contact to the squadron commander/director for all administrative support programs to include but not limited to task management, cybersecurity liaison, government travel card program; serves as liaison with personnel flights on personnel issues, assists in oversight of manpower resource requirements

Duties

Duty 1: Directly assists the commander/director in the management of all administrative support program functions. Duty 2: Serves as the resident subject matter expert for all mandated administrative support programs. Duty 3: Serves as the organizational point of contact and liaison with the personnel flight on military and civilian personnel issues. Duty 4: Assists in planning, administering, and monitoring manpower resource requirements. Duty 5:Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization.

  • The work is mostly sedentary. No special physical demands are involved. There may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=GS-CLER. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have or will have within 120 days of closing of this announcement, one year of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level or qualifying pay band or equivalent grade under the General Schedule (GS) or other pay systems. Specialized experience is described as experience which includes knowledge of an extensive body of policies and procedures governing the overall unit administrative and orderly room operations; knowledge of various steps and procedures needed to perform duties; to ensure all actions are accomplished and if problems exist, to identify other alternatives as needed; knowledge of standard processes and procedures for evaluating program efficiency to implement processes to improve programs; knowledge of organizational structure in order to assess manpower authorizations and utilization; knowledge of the basic objectives and policies governing various management or program operations; knowledge of HR rules, procedures, and operations sufficient to support the organization with a wide variety of interrelated HR support work; knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures requiring complex formatting, graphics or tables. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of an organization. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Knowledge of structure, programs and work methods of organization for personnel/manning issues. Skill in fact-finding, problem analysis, problem resolutions, and development of concrete action plans to solve problems. Ability to gather, analyze and present facts, communicate effectively, using tact and courtesy and posses the ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. Ability to plan and organize management programs and functions of an organization. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
