You will serve as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic in the Production Division, Transportation MAIN/OPER (PRL331) Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will make repairs to a variety of heavy mobile equipment and vehicles which have mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems, controls, or features not commonly found on automobiles and ordinary transport trucks and buses.
You will determine the cause of malfunctions and make repairs to a variety of heavy mobile equipment and vehicles.
You will read and interpret instructions, standards, job orders, drawings, and blueprints to determine the overall inspection needs and quality checkpoints for heavy mobile equipment repair work.
You will measure, fit, and install components, such as pistons, valves, bearings, gears, and cylinders, to specified clearances.
You will complete major repairs, overhauls, and modifications, and conduct functional and performance tests on completed work.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Incumbent must possess Class B CDL.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by: 1) Use heavy duty hand and special tools and test equipment to repair, maintain, modify and test heavy mobile equipment and vehicles; 2) Conduct functional and performance tests on completed work; 3) Diagnose problems, disassemble, assemble and adjust mechanical and non-mechanical systems: 4) Make modifications to equipment to meet procedures and requirements. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
