About the Position: This is a permanent position with Humphreys Engineer Center Support Activity (HECSA), Security Office, with a duty location in Washington D.C. This position will serve as Security Assistant in the Security office performing duties relative to safeguarding sensitive information/material and provide administrative support to Senior Security Specialists.
Duties
You will review electronic investigation paperwork utilizing the Electronic Questionnaire for Investigations Processing (EQIP) for accuracy and completeness.
You will schedule and obtain fingerprints on employees and contractors using the Cross Match electronic fingerprint machine.
You will maintain the personnel security database through using the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and ensures all investigation and clearance information is updated.
You will serve as the Site Security Manager (SSM) for the DEERS/RAPIDS Workstation for the District for issuing and unlocking Common Access Cards (CAC).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or educational requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working with the basic policies of personnel security, to include processing fingerprints, security clearances and maintaining secure information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as criminal justice and law enforcement. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
