You will serve as a PHOTOGRAPHER (MEDICAL, SCIENTIFIC & TECHNICAL) in the Medical Photography Department of NAVMEDSUP DET BETHESDA MD. Salary GS-9 68,405-88,926 Salary GS-11 82,764-107,590

Duties

You will provide specialized biomedical and forensic photography and services and support. You will provide 24-hour on call photographic services to document various legal and medical subject matter, in rotation. You will create custom digital processing techniques and provide specially enhanced, measurable, color-accurate images that are not inherently destructive to the data and allows for a traceable chain of custody log of manipulations made. You will communicate tactfully with clients during pre-assignment meetings and with patients before, during, and after photography.

Requirements

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • In accordance with BUMEDINST 6220.9B, this position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • In accordance with BUMEDINS 6230.15B employees who have contact with human blood or blood products are provided hepatitis B virus vaccine in accordance with the local blood borne pathogen exposure- control plan.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience operating specialized cameras and related equipment in photographing subjects in specialized medical, technical and scientific photography, studio photography and operating room documentations. Experience designing, constructing, and modifying professional photography equipment into configurations meant to capture imagery in difficult assignments, such as multiple light sources, macro level magnification and remote shutter. Experience monitoring, studying, and evaluating advances in biomedical photography, forensic imaging, digital media creation and imaging workstation hardware and software technologies. Experience counseling and educating patients before, during and after photography on the procedures of image capture as well as usage rights and protected health information. FOR THE GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience operating specialized cameras and related equipment in photographing subjects in specialized medical, technical and scientific photography, studio photography and operating room documentations. Experience designing, constructing, and modifying professional photography equipment into configurations meant to capture imagery in difficult assignments, such as multiple light sources, macro level magnification and remote shutter.
