You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will provide suggestions for refining inspection program and information on findings and areas of concern. You will determine and implement the most feasible corrective measures for routine environmental deficiencies. You will conduct review of contractors performing routine permit sampling, investigations or construction on environmental projects. You will respond to oil and hazardous substance spills and provide guidance on the containment and cleanup of minor spills.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in the preparation of permit applications, completing of monitoring reports and inspections and resolving routine compliance problems; 2) Auditing and inspecting according to regulation, permit or instruction to verify compliance and report findings to management; 3) Providing personnel with routine information and training concerning environmental compliance and protection of environmental resources. GS-07Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting inspections of Installation Facilities to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations; 2) Determining corrective actions for routine environmental deficiencies; 3) Responding or handling oil and hazardous substance spills; 4) Ensuring safe working conditions and the use of PPE. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree;
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
