Duties

Provides input to Army Materiel Command (AMC), Department of Army (DA), and Department of Defense (DoD) for policies and standards on physical security and anti-terrorism programs particular to ASC missions. Plans, directs, and coordinates the operation of a sound and effective security program throughout the Command. Coordinate/manage command-wide programs relative to plans, readiness, training, physical security of people, government property, conventional weapons/munitions/explosives, anti-terrorism crime prevention, and technical assistance. Maintains knowledge of anti-terrorism standards and practice and physical security equipment (PSE) including intrusion detection systems (IDS) that are available or under military development.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 Secret Security Clearance.
  • Temporary duty travel of 25% may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Coordinating/managing security programs relative to plans, readiness, mobilization, training, physical security of people, government property, conventional weapons/munitions/explosives, terrorism counteraction, crime prevention, and technical assistance; providing staff guidance and advice to subordinate professional counterparts to ensure effective program implementation; assisting in developing Command policy concerning requirements and limitations as to the use physical security equipment; and evaluating military/civilian units and individual effectiveness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Physical SecurityPlanning and EvaluatingSecurity Program ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
