About the Position: This position is located with the Army Sustainment Command, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Operations Division, Training and Programs Branch, Rock Island, IL
Duties
Provides input to Army Materiel Command (AMC), Department of Army (DA), and Department of Defense (DoD) for policies and standards on physical security and anti-terrorism programs particular to ASC missions.
Plans, directs, and coordinates the operation of a sound and effective security program throughout the Command.
Coordinate/manage command-wide programs relative to plans, readiness, training, physical security of people, government property, conventional weapons/munitions/explosives, anti-terrorism crime prevention, and technical assistance.
Maintains knowledge of anti-terrorism standards and practice and physical security equipment (PSE) including intrusion detection systems (IDS) that are available or under military development.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 Secret Security Clearance.
- Temporary duty travel of 25% may be required.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Coordinating/managing security programs relative to plans, readiness, mobilization, training, physical security of people, government property, conventional weapons/munitions/explosives, terrorism counteraction, crime prevention, and technical assistance; providing staff guidance and advice to subordinate professional counterparts to ensure effective program implementation; assisting in developing Command policy concerning requirements and limitations as to the use physical security equipment; and evaluating military/civilian units and individual effectiveness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
