Duties
Serves as instructor/flight examiner providing instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of aircrew members.
May perform duties of Flight Engineer which includes utilizing a knowledge of major aircraft systems associated with heavy multiengine aircraft.
Prepares for combination loads determining placement of cargo and passengers within weight and balance limitations. Prior to takeoff, insures cargo is properly secured, and proper publications and emergency equipment are aboard as required.
Applying knowledge of the full range of aircrew duties and responsibilities, methods of instruction and requirements of the program.
Assists in familiarizing crew members with operating procedures.
Uses, inspects, and maintains aircraft installed mission equipment such as recovery hardware, slings, litters, etc
Reports operational progress to pilot. During flight, updates and records in-f1ight performance data, observes warning indicators for system failure or malfunction performing aircraft systems operational checks.
Performs other duties as assigned

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.

- This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
- For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

MILITARY GRADES: E1 through E8
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 15 Series
The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, training, or education in which has provided practical application of theory and operating principles of aircraft systems; experience interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, guides and diagrams to correct malfunctions of the assigned aircraft (UH-60); experience applying and interpreting procedures and techniques as described in flight manuals and other applicable technical publications, experience performing in-flight duties to include systems monitoring and interpretation, functional check and troubleshooting of onboard computers and navigational systems, etc; experience completing accurate flight records and documentation of maintenance requirements of the UH-60; experience which demonstrates ability to provide formal instruction. Experience, training, or knowledge instructing and performing he full range of flight crew work supporting heavy multiengine aircraft, provides assistance to the pilot in the overall operation of these aircraft, and performs aircraft loadmaster responsibilities. Experience being responsible to provide assistance to the pilot in flight planning, monitoring and operating engines, and a wide variety of aircraft control systems to include fuel, electrical, hydraulic, fire suppression, environmental, pressurization. Must have at least 12 months specialized equivalent experience to the next lower grade level.

Education
You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-10. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
