About the Position: Conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property. Enforces laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques to maintain order and protect life and property.
Duties
Conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property.
Coordinates with civil and military agencies involving jurisdictional authority, exchange of information, and similar problems and considerations.
Serves as Point of Contact (POC) for civil law enforcement agencies required to serve due process to military and civilian personnel on the installation.
Processes civil arrest reports. Initiates Police Reports for the arrest of service members by civil law enforcement authorities for the edification of the command.
Maintains accountability reports to ensure that items are properly marked, recorded, stored, issued, turned-in, and returned to owner or disposed of by authorization of proper authority.
Ensure proper documentary control of the safe and secure storage of all evidence obtained during investigations, raids, etc.
Requirements
- Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within a one year of hire date.
- Successfully graduated from the USAMPS Military Police Investigator Course or complete within one year of hire date.
- Must be able to pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes. These include: weapons qualifications and first aid/CPR training requirements.
- Must meet the AR 190-56 requirements: Pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation, Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire and annually, Comply and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment and bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position is Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- This position is Key and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- This position has a requirement to be able to lift and carry persons (e.g., accident/crime victims, hostile suspects, etc.) during performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
