You will serve as a PURCHASING AGENT in the PUBLIC WORKS BUSINESS LINE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will requisition and make purchases of supplies, material, equipment, and services in compliance with all applicable supply and service acquisition procedures, policies, and regulations. You will determine the best sources to procure from to meet customer requirements based on type of requirement, urgency, and knowledge of item or service. You will track and maintain up-to-date status of all requisitions and purchases. You will expedite delivery of material for critical, urgently needed items by contacting the vendor and coordinating the movement of the material form the vendor to the customer. You will document all purchases in accordance with current regulations and instructions. You will maintain suspense files on purchases and requisitions submitted until all actions are complete.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Requisitioning and making purchases of supplies, material, equipment, and services in compliance with all applicable supply and service acquisition procedures, policies, and regulations; 2) Conducting daily checks with customers and central receiving personnel to verify that material and services were received and accepted; 3) Reviewing and screening for accuracy of funds approval, additional special approvals, special requirements, adequacy of item descriptions, and changes in requirements, and determining that requested material and service requirements meet current supply and service procurement policies and regulations; and 4) Reconciling and validating monthly credit card statements with completed credit card purchase packages and authenticating monthly credit card statement within set deadlines.
