You will serve as a Shipboard Electrical Systems Tester in the Electrical/Electronics & Calibration Shop, Production Resources Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will check out, troubleshoot, groom, modify, repair and test complex ship electrical installations of multiple component designs. You will make wire checks between inter-related component units of complete systems including their remote controls. You will determine causes of discrepancies, isolate trouble and make adjustments of repairs to achieve normal operation. You will use many types of instruments such as oscilloscopes, vacuum tube voltmeters, ohmeters, meggers, fluxmeters, etc. You will work with equipment manuals containing component and system operating instructions, theory of operation, schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts related systems.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 40 pounds in weight.
  • You must be willing and able to work onboard ships.
  • You must be willing and able to work an uncommon tour of duty (may include weekend, nights, overtime, or holidays).
  • You will be required to work a Shift Work schedule. A Shift Work schedule describes work performed with varying and/or rotating shifts.
  • You must be willing and able to accept a temporary promotion not to exceed one year.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
