Duties
THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, TEMPORARY POSITION NOT TO EXCEED ONE YEAR.
Selectee may be non-competitively extended up to 4 years if/when funding becomes available.
The primary purpose of the SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-9, is to serve as a Special Security Representative (SSR) in support of the Special Security Officer (SSO). Performs the day-to-day operational duties within the SCIF in support of all SCI-associated security programs and measures. Provides detailed research and analysis on physical, information, computer, and personnel security. This position requires a comprehensive working knowledge of intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices.
Qualifications
SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-9: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Experience implementing policies and procedures required to manage sensitive compartmented information (SCI) programs and to protect SCI resources; Experience functioning as the technical specialist on all SCI security matters as well as other areas of classified security and classification guidance; Experience applying knowledge on a variety of different security program interrelationships, requirements, regulations and guidance to protect SCI facilities and materials from espionage, sabotage, and destruction.

Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work required.
