About the Position: Medical Evaluation Analyst serves as an integral part of a team that is responsible for Training and Readiness Oversight (TRO) to Weapons of Mass Destruction/Chemical biological Radiological Nuclear Reserve components response teams.

Duties

Job responsibility covers 6 major areas during training support Medical Operations, Medical Treatment and management of both conventional and non conventional casualties, Laboratory Analysis, Medical Triage, and Mass Casualty Management. Trains and evaluates on process of casualty decontamination for ambulatory and non-ambulatory. Provides technical knowledge of chemical aspects of toxic hazardous materials. Advises Team/Division Chief on pertinent chemical and technical aspects of toxic and hazardous materials on individuals and environment. Trains and evaluates CBRN Response Enterprise elements on highly technical medically related HAZMAT procedures and devices. Trains and evaluates medical personnel on set up of triage and medical management. Provides technical oversight of the Analytical Laboratory System (ALS). Provides knowledge of chemical aspects of toxic, hazardous materials. Determines sampling procedures and sampling devices to be used in sample collection during survey operations and the proper handling of unknown substances at an incident in support of appropriate protective and response actions.

Requirements

  • Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions and under intense physical and mental stress.
  • May be required to wear an electronic pager and maintain a working telephone at all times.
  • Must be CPR with AED certified.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 60% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Participation in the DOD/DA Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Must be able to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots, goggles, gloves, chemical mask and other safety equipment as required.
  • Must be able to complete assigned duties to include a short duration walk in full mission oriented protective posture (MOPP) equipment in a simulated or actual contaminated environment under mission demand timelines
  • Will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours) by multiple means of ground and air transportation, as directed by the Secretary of Defense.

Training and evaluating Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise elements on highly technical medically related HAZMAT procedures and devices. Training and evaluating medical personnel on set up of triage and medical management. Providing technical knowledge on casualty process and advise on EMS services.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
