The incumbent provides administrative and programmatic support within the Education and Development Service Line at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is administrative management and clerical support for internal and external VA medical facility education-related activities and customers. The incumbent supports Education services in meeting the VA medical facility's education, health professions education and related training initiatives.
Duties
Demonstrates knowledge of timekeeping package, Microsoft Word/Outlook/Excel, and other computer programs.
Knowledge of the principles, procedures, and requirements for maintaining control and accountability of obligations and expenditures for all appropriations and fund accounts (for example, revolving, non-appropriated, multiyear, and single-year appropriations).
Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
Is open to change and new information; rapidly adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles
Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems.
Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Performs routine administrative and miscellaneous clerical work.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/01/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: program or office planning assessment of administrative processes or issues. Managing of office mail groups, liaison, special projects, timekeeping and scheduling. Managing all educational calendars, human resources clerical support, and process improvements.
Preferred Experience: Excellent Customer Service skills-Knowledgeable in Database Management Systems (MS Products-MS Word, Outlook, MS TEAMS, MS Forms, Excel, Publisher, TMS, LEAF, Share Point, Power Point. Processing incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memos, and other forms of written communication-Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records-Scheduling appointments, arranging meetings, teleconferences, prepares meeting agendas-Monitoring supply order needs ,ordering and purchasing office supplies-Time keeping
