This position is located within a National Forest. The primary purpose of this position is to perform simple technical tasks while acquiring greater technical skills.
Duties
Receives training as a Biological Science Aid, assisting higher grade employees in performing a variety of simple field and/or laboratory tests and procedures.
Assists in carrying out routine tests and experiments.
Takes simple measurements, records data, etc.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.

Qualifications

GS-02: Applicants must have three months of any type of work that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position, or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation; OR high school graduation or equivalent.
Examples of general experience includes: Performed farm/ranch labor, such as feeding and tending livestock or general maintenance of farm/ranch facilities; Worked in a greenhouse, nursery or landscape business planting, moving, watering, and tending plants and performing other general labor tasks; Worked as an animal caretaker in a laboratory, zoo or pet store or similar organization; Other work experience, paid or unpaid, that demonstrates an ability to learn and perform the work of this position, e.g. volunteer work, such as at a park, youth camp, hospital, community sports league facilities, etc.,
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
