About the Position: This is a Permanent position located at the Military Entrance Processing Station, Chicago Operations Group.

Duties

Coaches, facilitates, solves work problems, and participates in the work of the MEPS Testing Element. Provides input to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems. Conducts aptitude and qualification examinations at the MEPS and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites. Signs for inventory and receipt of, transfer of, and destruction of accountable test materials.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Cross-trains in other functions of the MEPS (such as processing) and performs these functions as required.
  • Handles accountable test material.
  • Will be required to conduct test sessions at remote sites, to include administration of high school tests at inner city, rural, and/or at risk schools with large populations (greater than 100 students)
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required (if the MEPS conducts night testing, this work will entail night shift work when the Test Clerk is the only employee in the building.)
  • -Evenings (if applicable): 1130-2000, Saturdays: 0530-1430, Sundays (if applicable): 1400-2000, Morning Opening Shift: 0530–1430
  • Frequent local travel and occasional TDY may be required (may require hotel stay for multiple nights to meet mission requirements).
  • Must be in possession of or have ability to obtain a drivers license.

PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR JOB ANNOUNCEMENT OFFICE AUTOMATION) (ANY GRADE): Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. One year of specialized experience which includes Performing quality control of examination and/or applicant information; Conducting aptitude and/or qualification test sessions as required; Assist with the accountability of all testing materials; Compiling test results and/or information into a centralized reporting system; Implementing policies and/or procedures for administering examinations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision MakingLeadershipProduct Test and EvaluationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). In addition, if your step reflects '00', you must include your current salary for each position.
