This position assists the facility CHIO and D-CHIO in sustaining a formal informatics leadership presence at the facility level. This formal presence ensures that knowledge of informatics is infused throughout the KC VAMC, and that health information issues affecting the delivery of care are clearly articulated and raised appropriately for action.

VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Major duties include but not limited to: Play key role in using the capability of the VA clinical information systems to assist practitioners in doing the right things for the right patients at the right time. Coordinates the use of electronic health record software packages for the provision of quality clinical care as well as the use of clinical decision support tools to streamline the process of patient care and provide accurate date in a timely manner. Evaluate clinical computing systems; analyze and evaluate the effect of interventions on health outcomes. Evaluate, document, analyze, prioritize, and recognize requirements for the improvement of the EHR and other systems in collaboration with the end-user. Effectively creates, integrates, disseminates and manages data for enterprise applications, processes and entities requiring timely and accurate data delivery. Manages the availability, usability, integrity and security of the data in enterprise systems, based on internal data standards and policies that also control data usage. Coordinate information management support for clinical activities within the medical center by participating collaboratively with staff to design, implement, and evaluate the clinical information systems configuration, and the capabilities that will be used. These activities will include the scholarly endeavors of KC VAMC staff and affiliate trainees. Work closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs' Office of Information and Technology (OlT), Biomedical engineering, Medical, Nursing, and other clinical staff. Ensure clinical input in the development and management of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) business architecture, which structures and communicates the VHA healthcare business, and includes descriptions of business behaviors, functionality, processes, and the flow of information that is required to achieve VHA's mission. Supervise professional and non-professional staff to accomplish the work of the health informatics office. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree, or a graduate of foreign pharmacy degree programs that meets the educational requirement? Note: Foreign graduates must provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification, which includes passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT). Licensure: Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: GS-13 Pharmacy Supervisor: Experience. In addition to the GS-12 requirements, must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. AND Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: a. Ability to effectively supervise subordinate staff. b. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions. c. Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards pertaining to pharmacy. d. Skill in managing people or programs. Preferred Experience: Preferred experience in Clinical Informatics. References: VA HANDBOOK 5005/55 PART II APPENDIX G15 The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-13. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary; however, the incumbent must possess the ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, reach, twist, and carry light items to access a standard office environment.
